Guys can you mountain goats give me some advice on acquiring a trusty mountain steed? I am looking to get a hard tail perhaps but that's as much as I know on the subject. Brands, spec, sizes etc any info appreciated. Budget is €1k or under.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Heidi

Noel Conway is (or was) selling a very good hardtail. If you trawl back through the forum there will be details.

Also Cam might still have his full sus available under your budget.

As Corina says the Biking.ie guys sell on their ex-rentals but only at certain times of the year.

In MTBing, its the forks, weight and groupset that you should look out for rather than the make. Make sure forks lock out, disc brakes are essential if doing any sort of down hill action, Sram or Shimano groupset are best IMO, and anything at or under 12kg is about right on weight.
