Folks

a lot of members are talking about trying out Mountain Biking (MTB) in the off-season / winter and some have put their names down for the Ballyhoura trip in October.

In response to which i will be leading MTB cycles on Sundays (so we dont rob your precious Sat Spin time :-)).

These spins will start with the very basics... so ideal for the beginners, and will build in skill and technical learning so that everyone will be able to enjoy Ballyhoura even more.

You will need a Mountain Bike (duh) front suspension and good brakes (V brakes are ok, Disc are better. Bring some food and water (much like the road spins)

Dates:

Sunday 7th September - MTB basics 1 - 2hrs - introducing the very basic fundamentals of off road biking - taking in some easy trails on Devils Glen
Sunday 14th September - MTB basics 2 - building the difficulty a little, riding some singletrack and being a bit more adventurous
Sunday 21st September - MTB - Intermediate 1 - 3hrs - building on the basic spins, more singletrack and more climbing
Sunday 28th September - MTB - Intermediate 2 - 3-4hrs - more difficulty - longer saddle time and some stunning vistas
Sunday 5th October - MTB - Intermediate 3 - 4hrs+ - long MTB spin, taking in all but the toughest of the routes in Carrick... this will have you firmly prepared for taming Bally H.

please also note that the Tuesday night MTB spins have commenced (from Tuesday 19th August, 7pm meet in Ashford). These are for not for beginners however, would strongly recommend you do the first few Sunday sessions before trying out the Tuesday night spins, you will need lights front and rear.
