Now that the temperature has dropped its time to put away the shorts and short sleeve jersey and make sure that you have appropriate gear for your Saturday spins. We would suggest that everyone has the following:

1) Base Layer
2) Winter jacket
3) Cycling tights
4) Winter cycling gloves
5) Over shoes
6) Skull cap - especially if you are follically challenged :)
7) Light water proof jacket - while they are fairly useless at keeping you dry, its very handy to have one in your back pocket & if you have stop for a mechanical put it on as it will keep you warm.
8) Lights - Having a red flashing light will improve your visibility on those dull winter days.
9) Stay fuelled - Its really important that you stay fuelled on the bike, the rule of thumb is that you should eat something small every 45 mins & force yourself to drink regularly - there is nothing worse then bonking on a colder winters day.

And please please please, anyone cycling in a group, fit mudguards to your bike!!
It is pretty horrible to be cycling behind someone who hasn't bothered to fit mudguards, because it doesn't look cool, especially when it has been raining.
Please just have a little bit of respect for your fellow riders
You can pick them up in any decent bike shop, and the are not expensive.

Lift your legs, they'll fall themselves
