Great spin today with group 4. Easy, but long, 85.63k, 3hours 27minutes with average speed 24.8kph. Great work by everybody in the group. The numbers dwindled after Rathdrum, as did the pace, but we supported each other well.

I couldn't get anybody to move up to the fast group, but will still work on those who want to stay in their comfort zone. You have been warned! Resistance is Futile, You Will be Assimilated!

Passed you out at the Enniskerry turnoff on the N11 Jim and the teeth were gritted, eyes focussed and you looked like you had another 100 k in the legs! Should point out I was in a car, not on the bike.
Sorry I missed today, what a cracker!

Saturday 9th Feb

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE

There have been a number of falls at the kerb just outside the entrance to Chester Beatty's Car Park. Mostly at the end of the spin, when people have switched off and are thinking about coffee! Can i remind EVERYONE to be extra diligent when turning into the carpark. Either dismount and walk over the kerb, or if you are cycling over the kerb, do so at right angles, so the front wheel doesn't slide from underneath you. There are also dips in the kerb just before Chesters, this is a safer area to enter the car park.

Block 2: This is the final 4 week block of hills, before we move into an 8 - 12 week block of higher intensity, lower level interval type sessions.

NOTE TO ALL GROUP LEADERS, PLEASE LEAVE 3-4 MINS GAP BETWEEN GROUPS WHEN LEAVING ASHFORD AS GROUPS ARE GETTING VERY "BUNCHED" UP AND ARE CAUSING BLOCKS TO TRAFFIC.

A very hilly spin today for a medium week! Probably one of the hilliest spins we have done - we were not expecting that.

Group 4 started with 8 I think. Aaron had to retire early with mechanical difficulties. Then after Killiskey we were joined by a sick Brendan Buck who dropped back for group 5. He chattered away to us for the next 3 hours seemingly not bothered by any of the hills we struggled with - sick my arse!

Liam C, headed for home in Rathdrum and Tom headed for home after about 65k. We all worked really well together on the spin and managed to ascend Shay Elliot as a group. The ascent out of Clara Vale nearly killed us all except for the sick man who was as fresh as a daisy at the top and bemused by all our gasping and effing and blinding!

The remainder: Adrian, Deirdre (Doing it for the Girls), Brendan, Dave G, John and myself rolled into Ashford after 3 hours 32 minutes and 80.67k with an average speed of 22,8kph. Avery tough days riding - well done all!
