Definitely the hilliest spin so far with 1400m of climbing over only 80k.
Group 5 started with Noelie, Brendan, Alan, Barry, Scotty and Noel. Alan and Brendan sensibly peeled off early still suffering from recent bugs. Noelie and Scotty started the pain-train in earnest on Shay and it never let uo from then on. Chuck Norris saw us on Clara Vale Church hill and ran away crying. By the time we got to the Black Hill it looked like the big wave in 'A Perfect Storm'.
We rolled into Ashford on fumes with a 26.6kph average.
I have given Jamies address to Liam Neeson and he says he will find him......
My dentures have finally stopped rattling after yesterday's spin. It was a great spin with lots of variation through out the route and even the weather was with us. The group started out with 12 or 13 with a few drop offs through out the route. It was hard to cycle up the hills as a group as we all have different hill skills, such as Claire H, Pauline, John D and the "nubie" Alan who absolutely flew up black hill but we regrouped after the hills. Thank you all for support and team work!
Average of 22.1kmph.
Thanks to Ronan for stepping in at short notice ( none really )to lead the New to Tri/Recovery group. Heard that everyone there was v. happy with the spin.
Group 2 had a good spin too, quite a few took the bail-out option. Brendan was very worried about Laura, it seems that her map reading skills let her down. She took the bail out option to Avoca ( not the coffee shop )
Some new members are all coping well. Our group are all ready for Lanza- pity that none are going .
Blessed was he amongst women! Great work by the new to tri/recovery group. Quite a bit of fight and determination in those who have not been out before or who are back after been away.Averaged 22 kph so job well done to all. Everyone did a decent amount of work and we all came in together at the end which was the main thing. Picked up Patrick along the way who tried to clean his chain with his jacket while moving, interesting concept!
First back for the coffee. Point of note- they keep hot chocolate sachets behind the counter!
Cara I have your water bottle will have it in the car next week
Think that was the toughest spin I've ever done in wicklow, jamie were you in a really bad mood putting together that route And that was the medium week, might stay in bed for the v hard week That said we all survived and there was great team work on those hills, great prep for Lanza!
Thanks jim for bringing us all home in one piece
