after a winter of wind, rain and hills, it was a joy to be on the bike today, sun shining, flatter route and despite it being an "easy" week, people still knocking lumps off each other!

Group 5 started with a pig posse, riding well to Jack Whites, where we regrouped. Then onto our 5 laps. We lost a few on the way (wont name names), and finished with a flurry emptying what was left in the tanks on the Burkes Sprint!

If this is a sign of summer.... bring it on... glorious!

great preparation for Lanza next weekend :-)

Great spin from group 1 today. All were very comfortable with a spin that ended up averaging 24kph.

We mixed it up a bit with intervals between mcDaniels and south beach, and between the start and end of deputies pass. We found our race pace on the second one, rather than our sprint pace on the first one. :woohoo:

Some very strong cyclists in this group and we up and overed back to burke oil. A very enjoyable spin.

Well done to everyone. Great job!

Saturday 9th March

Moving to a new block from this week, we've left the hills behind us.... (well kind of), and will start on higher intensity flatter interval type sessions.

NOTE TO ALL GROUP LEADERS, PLEASE LEAVE 3-4 MINS GAP BETWEEN GROUPS WHEN LEAVING ASHFORD AS GROUPS ARE GETTING VERY "BUNCHED" UP AND ARE CAUSING BLOCKS TO TRAFFIC.

Block 3: Week 2 Medium

great session last week, albeit some would say not an Easy week.... its all relative! Similar approach this week, except a shorter more punchier loop!

Group 1 - 50km - Leader – Darragh Phelan
Av - 20-22 KPH
Ashford - Kiliskey - Roundwood - Laragh - Rathdrum - Glenealy - Ashford

Group 2 upwards - Roundwood Intervals - Medium
Route - Ashford - Kiliskey (ride steady as a group no-one dropped) - Ballyduff XR - Interval starts at the top of the descent to the lakes.
Turn right to Coolwella (past Alex Grays house) and follow the road to the main Slaughter/Roundwood junction - left then descend towards roundwood. Interval stops at the right hand turn (the road past noellies house) regroup along here and recover. Start at the junction for Coolwella again

Group 2 - 60km - Leaders - John Darcy / Debs Crean (please split into 2 groups if group is too large)
3 x laps

Group 3 - 70km - Leader - Owen Morris
4 x laps

Group 4 - 80km - Leader – Dave Gillespie
5 x laps

Group 5 - 90km - Leader – Noel Conway/Jim Corbett
6 x laps

Route for groups 2 upwards

Group 6

Weather
Weekend : Little change, with the possibility of some rain at times, but with good dry intervals also. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds will back east to northeast, possibly increasing fresh to strong on Sunday. Turning a little colder later in the weekend.
