Has anybody ever heard of anything like this before?

"An important change to the cycle leg of the Skerries Triathlon

This week we were told that a new interpretation of the road traffic acts means that it is not acceptable to have triathlon bike courses using sections of roads open to other traffic in the Skerries area. This means that despite Fingal Co Co having given us closed road for sections of the course, it will not possible to have competitors racing on the Skerries Triathlon cycle this weekend. Instead, competitors will be required to complete the cycle course, but the cycle section will be neutralist from a results point of view

The bad news (which requires an apology)

The cycle section will not be used for any published results
The cycle section will not be used for any prizes. Prizes will be purely based on the addition of the swim and run stages only. To ensure that results are calculated correctly, it's likely that prizes will be confirmed on Monday and not at 3pm, as originally planned.

There will be Garda presence on Sunday ensuring that the rules of the road are adhered to during the cycle, that yield signs are obeyed, that cyclists are never more than two a breast, etc."

I know from previous races in skerries it is a nightmare in terms of traffic. That triathlon is being run by Irish Triathlon and I don't think it is TI sanctioned hence the issues. That is unreal as the bike is the longest part of the course.

Yea I know you are taking a chance doing any of his events. It was sold on the promise that the cycle was on closed roads. I got a feeling that he just made that up. No offer of any refunds

I have to say, that I made a decision never to race another race organised by this "gentleman", as in my opinion, he has no regard for the athletes safety.
I understand that as a private business, you have to make a profit, but not at the risk of injury to anyone.
How can you have a credible race, if the bike leg doesn't count for anything.
Just turn it into an aquathon, and don't risk the athelete safety

Lift your legs, they'll fall themselves

Might as well pull in for a coffee or a pint during the bike leg and roll into transition when good and rested, ready for the run. A farce is putting it mildly.
