Hello,

I've never had to use a bike rack for my car (threw the bike in the back of the car if needed), so wondering if anyone had any advice on where to buy bike racks? I'm in the market for a new secondhand car and presume the type of rack depends on the car shape.

Lastly, if anyone has any tips about turbo trainers for beginners let me know.

Any helpful tips before I purchase any of the items are welcome :)

Hi Aimee

Halfords have a great selection of bike racks and also sell turbo's. The guys in Bace 2 Race also have a great selection.

I actually got both my turbo and my bike rack from either Lidl or Aldi. Can't remember which I got in which shop to be honest. The bike rack works on any hatchback. I'm a newbie too though, so the more experienced members might advise against using cheapies.

get a car with a tow hitch... then a bike rack that fits to the tow bar

much less hassle, saves the car from getting damaged and are much easier and smaller to carry in the boot (unless you go for one the mahooosive 4 bike racks).

as for Turbo's - how often are you gonna be using it? if once a week, then go for a simple wheel on magnetic turbo (can pick em up cheap enough 2nd hand), if more look at the smart turbo's that talk to apps like Zwift and TrainerRoad, will transform your turbo experience!!! more expensive tho!

happy shopping

Thanks all, I ended up going to Halfords and picked up a bike rack up which I think works on most cars. I also picked up a simple turbo trainer as i'm sure i'll use it rarely.
