I think it's time to start injecting a bit of intensity into our Tuesday night run as we move inexorably closer to the build phase of our training cycle.
I propose incorporating some 20 or 30 second bursts of speed into tomorrow nights run with 2 minute recovery - 5 or 6 reps should be enough. It will give us just a little taste of of what our body's will have to start doing in the New Year.
Great session last night - 20 seconds seems to last an awful long time when you start puffing & blowing. However it did get easier with every rep. We can try 30 second bursts next time, which will not be next Tuesday - I will be stuffed like a turkey with a red nose like Rudolph at that time!
I think the next time the 'Tuesday Night Run Club - Bray' will meet will probably be in Greystones in the New Year when the Tilley sessions return - Happy Days!
If members of the TNRC-B fancy a run to build on their 20 second bursts last night they can try the 'Streets of Wicklow 5k' on Stephens Day.
There is talk of making it a Big Brick, cycling down from Bray. Niall Cunnane and Dave 'The Beast' Barry are on for that.
