some additional thoughts.....

little and often is the key to consistency.

3x20min sessions is better than 1x60mins (especially this early in the season).

also, for the time crunched, look for opportunities to be clever with your training...

For example... run to the pool (if you live less than 8km from the pool).... just make sure its an easy run otherwise you could cramp in the pool.

double up on sessions, i.e. bring your runners to the turbo and do a short brick...

you can become quite creative with your training... with a bit of lateral thinking. (i used to drive 1/2 way to town from wicklow, then park in Leopardstown and cycle the rest) it gave me an extra 20km per day on the bike = 100km per week... took me the same time as if i was driving all the way in the office too... so that was free training!!

some more thoughts to ponder.....

Bike: I know some of you might be looking at bikes for the summer, and trying to decide on what bike is best.

bottom line, if you are racing triathlon, then get a triathlon/TT bike... simples. There are so many on the market now, and some at outstanding value... however... MAKE SURE YOU GET A BIKE FIT... this is THE most important. Comfort on the bike is the number 1 priority when going long. (half > full distance).

if you have a TT bike, set it up on your Turbo for the next 6 weeks... get used to riding it in short sessions, 5x4mins on the TT bars... gradually get used to the position before spring arrives and you take it on the roads.

if you dont have the luxury of a TT bike, then you will be able to adapt your road bike... but it will be a compromise.

We will be doing some specific bike training closer to the event, so you will have plenty of time to get quality Tri bike sessions in on the road.

WhatsApp group is now up and running, so let me know if you need adding.
