A great Race and a great club - Swim seemed long , but that just means it was measured to full 1.9km.Had a bad start (swim training fell off the radar a few weeks before event)and did first km with the kickers boxers pullers and draggers and the zig-zaggers.After the turn things improved a bit and finished swim ok.
Onto bike and I started to improve my position and all was going well until half way down the Healy Pass when I got a slow puncture so that slowed me down -still in denial rode to bottom of hill and up next rise when I was forced to deal with it.Number 238 gave me a loan of gas canister and while trying to do a quick repair Darragh Phelan and Liam stopped to give me a hand thanks lads it meant a lot to me. Carried on with cycle and started run in good form, caught up with a steady runner from Clare and we ran race together pcking off one or two and not being passed by too many.I was dreading this heart stopper of a hill but it was a thing of nothing (thanks Eamonn for the hill work) .
So all in all a race you can train for and enjoy and some really lovely scenery. I think it is great to be in a club where people have trained so hard for a race and they are prepared to stop to help a club mate.
