Congratulations to all our club members who raced in the National Middle Distance Championships in Athlone at the weekend. Apologies if I've missed anyone!!
We'd a few very strong performances in there, especially from Liam Williams who stormed home with a time of 4:32:05 to win his age category. Gaby Dillon was strong as ever and claimed a 2nd place spot in her age group as well, with a cracking time of 5:24:01. Well done guys!!
Also, congratulations to the large group of WTCers who completed the challenging Hell of the West Olympic Distance triathlon in Kilkee on June 27th. Hope you've all recovered by now.
2nd place age category finish for Mr Darcy with a great time of 02:37:40.
This weekend saw the National Aquathon Championships, in Salthill, Co. Galway. There were only 2 members from Wicklow Tri taking part this year, Brian Harris & Marie Burke. Conditions were horrendous, with the 2km swim being shortened to 1km and heavy rain persisting throughout the 10km run. Brian was 1st person out of the water and finished in a very impressive 5th position overall. Well done to both of you. I'm sure it took a while to thaw out after that one!!
Elsewhere, we had a couple of other members racing in the Two Provinces sprint triathlon in Lanesborogh, Co. Longford. Noelie Kavanagh finished in 4th place overall (1st in his age group), whilst John Bowes claimed a 3rd place position in his age category. Well done lads!
If anyone else was racing, just drop us a message to WicklowTri@gmail. com and we'll share the details of your achievements
Congratulations to the 9 hardy Wicklow athletes who raced in The Lissadell olympic distance NS triathlon in Sligo last weekend. I think a special mention needs to go to Veronica, who was racing that distance for the first time. She's rightly very proud of herself and is already looking forward to the next one
