Quiet enough weekend, with very few races on the calendar, but well done to the following 3 members who were racing.
Congrats to club member Paddy Holohan who completed who first Ironman yesterday in Frankfurt, with a great time of 12:47:16. We currently have to share Paddy with Pulse Tri Club, but I'm sure he'll come to his senses soon and make a dedicated switch across to Wicklow Tri
National Aquathon Championships - Castlewellan
Well done to Brian Harris who came 2nd in the National Aquathon Championships up in Co. Down on Saturday. The race was a 750m swim, followed by a 5km cross country run. Brian put in a great performance to be the first athlete out of the water and ended up finishing just a few seconds behind the overall race winner.
Kilkenny Sprint Triathlon
Last but not least, we had Dan McCarthy racing at the Kilkenny sprint triathlon. Only in the club a few weeks and he already has a couple of races under his belt, so well done for getting stuck into all this triathlon stuff so quickly Dan
With so many of us involved in marshalling duties last weekend, that meant we had very little racing action, however we did have a few members who got to don their Wicklow trisuits.
Base2Race Harbourman Triathlon
What an epic day this was for the club, with tons of positive feedback from competitors about how well organised the race was. To top it off, we had a Wicklow Tri person in 1st place on the podium for the sprint race, which made the day even sweeter for us. Congrats to Trevor Conroy for pulling off a well-deserved victory with a super time of 01:06:44. Once we saw that Trevor was the first guy out on the run course, we knew he was home & dry. There aren’t many athletes out there who can manage a 17 minute 5km in a triathlon. Also, well done to Dan McCarthy and Fiona Kelly who were also competing in the sprint race. It was Fiona's first triathlon and she played an absolute blinder
In the Olympic Race, Brian Harris was the first swimmer out of the water, taking a mere 17 mins to get around the 1500m swim course ... 3 minutes ahead of the 2nd fastest swimmer!! Brian finished in 4th place overall with a time of 02:10:30, nabbing an AG prize in the process. Local heroes John Darcy and Dave Gillespie can hold their heads high in front of their neighbours too, with John winning his age group and Dave finishing 2nd in his category.

i-Tri Sprint Triathlon - Ennis
Just the one member racing in the i-Tri sprint triathlon in Ennis last Saturday. Well done to John Bowes who was solid as ever with a great time of 01:15:31, picking up a few more National Series points for the club.
Lanesborough Sprint Triathlon
Congratulations to all the Wicklow athletes who took part in the Lanesborough Sprint Triathlon at the weekend. We had over 20 members racing, which was fantastic to see. In the CAT 1 Super Series draft-legal event, Alex Gray was our solo entrant and did us proud with a great time of 1:02:17. While in the age group waves, Trevor Conroy and Lisa Howley continued their flying form for 2016, with fantastic times of 01:04:29 and 01:14:58 respectively and nabbing 2nd place prizes within their age groups. We also had Rose Leith finishing in 2nd place in her age group and Caitriona Woodcock grabbing 2nd place in the Aquabike event. Well done to all

Top of the Mourne - Olympic Distance (National Series)
Congratulations to Gaby Dillon and Viv Conlon who both took on one of the toughest olympic distance races last weekend in Co. Down. Gaby had a super race and nabbed 1st place in her age group, which was no mean feat on such a difficult course, while Viv Conlon was 2nd in her category.
King of the Hill - Sprint Triathlon (National Series)
Down in Co. Cork, we also had 2 members racing for Wicklow at Kinsale's King of the Hill triathlon. Congrats to Salome O'Siochru and Amanda Mannix, who both put in great performances, with Salome finished in 3rd place in her age group.
Well done to all 4 of you ladies. It’s great to see so many of our female members out racing this year
