Check out our Media Gallery for some photo's of the June race
Well the sun shone on Wicklow last night for the first of our aquathon series 2010, and with the sun came over 170 eager triathletes.
First off were the women with Wicklow Tri's Lisa Howley leading the charge out of the water. But once on the run it was Aoife O'Connor of Phoenix Tri who lead the way with a blistering run. The competition for second and third was a close fought race between Wicklow's Siobhain Duggan and 3D's Vanessa Fenton with Vanessa working hard on the run to take second.
In the mens race it was Wayne Reid who laid down an early marker, that he is back and faster than ever 27.26, which is saying something in what was a very competitve field. Again the big battle was between second and third with Colm Bolger of Pulse tri taking second in 28.32 just ahead of Fernando Fuentes 28.44
So a massive thanks to all who helped out on the night especially Bray Sailing Club, the Irish Coast Guard, the Martello Bar and all our marshals and kayakers.
Ok version 2 of the race results is now available, thanks to all who emailed us today to help with some corrections, hopefully we have them all now but if you have any quereis please send us an email to info@wicklowtri.com

Cameron Bremner puts pen to paper on his race report for the Laguna Phuket Triathlon, 6th December 2009 - 1800m, 55km, 12km
It all started when my brother thought it would be a good idea to enter us both into the Laguna Phuket Triathlon. Brilliant i thought! - who in their right mind is going to turn down a free entry into a race (maybe its the Scotsman in me). At the time i knew little or nothing about the race itself except it was listed in one of the triathlon magazines as one to do before you hang up your race suit/bike/race flats.
After a little google-ing i found out that the race is in Thailand, has been running for 15years and has had some big names in the past, for what is essentially only a little longer than olympic distance race. The course itself is unusual. An 1800m non-wetsuit swim that is in two parts, 1200m sea swim followed by a 600m swim in a freshwater lagoon with an 80m dash across sand in between. The bike is 55km with a series of 4 climbs around the 8km mark that can significantly dent your race. And finally a 12km run on a two lap at course that is mostly around a golf course.

12 months have passed and here I am writing my second report after completing IM Lanzarote 2009. The journey began late in September after a Saturday cycle. When I got home, I logged onto the Lanzarote website, more out of curiosity than anything else. Curiosity turned to blind panic when I realised there was only approximately 150 left to fill. My mind was racing, do I register?, don’t I, have I got the time to train? Do I want to subject myself to that all over again and so soon? Within another 2 mins it was done. I was registered…… What now? ..........READ ON FOR DOM's RACE BUILD UP AND REPORT

Firstly three Wicklow Men put in some amazing performance in the infamous Lanzarote Ironman Triathlon, Dominic O Hanlon (11 hrs 46mins), Paul O Connor (12hrs 20mins) and Kevin Healy (13hrs 46mins).
John Doyle from Kilpedder was competing in the Barcelona Half Ironman and had a great race to finish in a time of 5hrs 45mins. Conditions were very hot at 30 degrees, which made the run very tough.
