Massive numbers today for the spin. Did anybody take a count?
I was leading the new to tri/recovery spin this morning and had 13 excluding me - Annie, Catriona, Cara, Catherine, Ciaran, Eilish, Jackie, Jenny, Mick, Neil, Paul, Trish & Wendy. Mostly new to WTC, but a few, not so new just taking it easy.
Did some bike handling with the group down at the Cullenmore, then had a masterclass/demonstration from Ciaran, on replacing a tube after he punctured just before Newtown. He handled the pressure well with everybody watching him! Eilish and Annie left us after Newtown and headed for Kilmac to get a little more distance into their spin. Then we poodled down to Kilpeddar and headed for the coast road back. Trish left us at Eden Gate and headed for home as she had already cycled to Ashford from home earlier. We kept up a good clip on the coast road to Rathnew, keeping nice and tight as a group with regular rotation. Finally rolled into Mount Usher for a well deserved coffee and the rest!
Well done to all and a particular welcome to those new to Wicklow Triathlon Club - The Best Triathlon Club in the World!
22 in total in group 1.We split the group in two ,thanks to Debbie ,
who led one of the groups. The group was well matched .We did a good spin ,
plenty of up and overs. Our avg., speed was 24.8.Which is a good start.
Having witnessed the home coming of that spin and how totally exhausted you guys were, my thoughts are, that I, really need to get my ass on the bike and push hard on the Sat spins if I want to do justice to my new bike... And also if I want to improve so I can move up to the next group.... Ie JD group...
Bums on saddles girls.... I'm confident that we will have at least one home grown female joining the mountain goats....
Group 2 set a good pace to Tinahely. Williams talked or sang for 3.15 of the 3hrs 20. Deirdre kept the pace up and we managed to lose our great group leader for about 10k. Luckily all roads converged in Tinahely and we met up again.
Havent been out on the bike much lately and had my ass dropped coming up the hill to Rathdrum. Big thanks to John C and especially Gabby for dragging me home. Was bloody glad the see Ashford!
