The committee have decided that this year’s club race will be the Pulse Port Beach Triathlon in Clogherhead, on Saturday Sept 9th.
We chose this race based on: Distance: It’s a sprint race, so it should suit a lot of newcomers who might not fancy trying an olympic distance race just yet. Location: Clogherhead is very manageable as a day-trip, so people don’t need to worry about booking overnight accommodation. We’ll sort out an after-party closer to home that evening Time of Year: It’s in September, meaning you’ve over 7 months to train for it, so you can’t use lack of fitness as an excuse not to sign up!!!
There’ll be prizes for the fastest Wicklow male & female, along with a few other fun prizes too, which will be presented at our Annual Awards’ Night in November.
Race entries haven’t opened yet (it’ll probably be another couple of months before that happens), but we’ll keep you posted on when TI/Pulse announce the date.
In addition to that, there are a few other popular races that Wicklow Tri club members usually compete in. It’s always great to get a big crew from the club at the same race, so some of the other races that we’d encourage you to sign up for this year are:
- Carlow (Sprint distance) – May 14th
- Two Provinces in Lanesborough (Sprint distance) – July 15th
- Caroline Kearney in Mullingar (Olympic distance) – Aug 12th
- The Lost Sheep in Kenmare (Middle/Half-Ironman distance) – Sept 16th
